FireWire Interface Options
IEEE 1394 FireWire
support is provided as standard or as an option for most micro-line embedded
DSP hardware configurations. It provides a high speed next-generation
network topology and communications protocol that operates at 100, 200,
or 400MBits/s.
Guaranteed
bandwidth is provided for mission critical applications, with live
connect/disconnect and many other impressing features to provide
a fast, reliable, durable and universal interconnection between
micro-line systems, host computers, digital cameras, and and I/O
devices.
It is particularly
useful for for implement distributed networks consisting of multiple
embedded micro-line DSP resources.
IIDC
Protcol support is optionally available for imaging applications,
allowing IIDC 1934a compatible FireWire cameras to be controlled
an their image data captured by embedded micro-line DSP systems
for real-time image processing. |

C6x11CPU Systems
C6x11CPU boards provide
developers with a straight forward embedded DSP board capability in a
small form factor configuration. These boards can be complemented with
an optional IEEE 1394 communications capability, in the form of the SC1394a
FireWire interface module which plugs onto the C6x11CPU board.
Adding Peripherals via FireWire
FireWire is either
a standard or optional capability with most micro-line DSP boards, offering
a flexible 400MBit/sec high bandwidth serial communications capability
with excellent real-time behavior.
A diverse range of commercially available FireWire devices are available
and can be integrated within an embedded micro--line DSP System. Examples
include Digital Cameras, Scanning devices, and Printers.
For developers
wanting to integrate their own peripheral devices with FireWire, the
UC1394a ultra-compact
multi-chip module provides an ideal solution.
Taking the form of a 30mm x 36mm 116-pin PLCC surface mount component,
the ultra-compact series of multi-chip module provide everything needed
to integrate just about any sensor or application interface within
a FireWire networking environment. |
