Development Tools & Software

micro-line embedded DSP hardware is complemented by a fully integrated software framework for developing application software. This provides the means to develop and debug software for the TMS320C6000 DSP processor and to load the final application code to the on-board FLASH ROM, allowing the DSP to boot autonomously with application software.

Developers utilizing the FireWire capabilities of micro-line will have access to the TMS320C6000 based FireWire API and can optionally select a Windows based Host API for integrating the micro-line hardware with a host PC.

Code Composer Studio is an open, powerful TMS320C6000 integrated development environment for Windows based computers that uses an intuitive system of advanced code generation and development tools that can slash overall micro-line DSP System coding time and eliminate many real-time problems in minutes.

Bundled with Code Composer Studio is DSP/BIOS™, a universal layer of scalable, real-time foundation software for TI DSPs. DSP/BIOS can be embedded within each TMS320C6000 processor in micro-line target applications to provide a variety of basic run-time services.

USB JTAG In-Circuit Emulator

A USB JTAG In-Circuit emulator allows the Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio IDE to interface with and control a target micro-line DSP System.

micro-line FLASH Filesystem

micro-line DSP boards employ FLASH ROM for the non-volatile storage of executable user application code. Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows2000 compatible software tools provide the means for utilizing the Filesystem via an RS-232 cable connection between a desktop or laptop PC and a micro-line DSP board.

The FLASH Filesystem can store multiple programs in the FLASH ROM, the number and size of which is limited only by the amount of FLASH ROM implemented on the DSP board. Under normal operation, when the DSP board is powered up and its reset-line de-asserted, a pre-selected user program is loaded from the FLASH ROM and then executed by the DSP.

The following host resident software capabilities are provided for the management of application programs stored within the FLASH ROM

  • Formatting the FLASH ROM, completely erasing all filesystem contents
  • Listing of FLASH Filesystem Contents
  • Renaming of files within the FLASH Filesystem
  • Deleting a files already stored within the FLASH Filesystem
  • Downloading application program files
    from PC
