DSP boards the size of a Coin!

ultra-compact multi-chip modules can be utilized just like embedded DSP boards, with the convenience of an off the shelf programmable DSP solution and the added advantage of an exceptionally small 30x36mm 116-pin surface mount PLCC package format.

They combine a TMS320C5000 series DSP processor, a Spartan-II (50kGates) or Spartan-3 (up to 200kGates) FPGA, a 400MBit/second IEEE 1394a FireWire communications interface, and a host of additional I/O capabilities including RS-232, McBSP, I2C, JTAG, and user configurable digital I/O.

The extensive I/O capabilities allows for easy integration with application specific hardware, and the on-board FireWire interface can be used to establish a high bandwidth (up to 32MBytes/sec) serial communications link with PCs or other embedded equipment.

All that is needed to get started is an ultra-compact DSP Development EVM-Kit, together with Texas Instruments' TMS320C5000 Series Code Composer Studio and a compatible JTAG in-circuit emulator, all of which can be obtained from Traquair.
