TMS320C6412 DSP Board with Spartan-3 FPGA and USB 2.0, FireWire, Ethernet Interfaces

The micro-line C6412Compact offers a highly flexible DSP/FPGA single board solution for developers requiring and integrated DSP and FPGA, together with on-board USB 2.0, 10/100Base-T Ethernet, and IEEE 1394a FireWire connectivity. It can be used as a stand-alone system, or as a mezzanine daughtercard embedded within a larger system or board design. The design incorporates a high performance TMS320C6412 Integer DSP Processor, a high density Spartan-3 FPGA, USB 2.0 slave interface, 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface, and two IEEE 1394a FireWire controllers with independent interfaces. Up to 128MBytes of SDRAM and 8MBytes of Boot Program FLASH are also included.

In situations where additional functionality is required, developers can extend the capabilities of the C6412Compact using optionally available data acquisition and I/O modules, or with their own application-specific hardware. External hardware is easily interfaced with the TMS320C6412 processor or connected directly to the Spartan-3 FPGA.

The micro-line power supply functions as a base for a micro-line stack of DSP, data acquisition and I/O boards. It delivers power to the micro-line stack and provides additional services such as RS-232 communications connector, a reset button and a power-on indicator. OEM developers may wish to mount the micro-line stack on their own hardware.

Networking & Connectivity

The USB 2.0 slave interface allows the C6412Compact to be connected with PCs, using optionally provided software for the on-board DSP processor and the PC.

The two on-board IEEE 1394a FireWire controllers facilitate C6412Compact integration with other embedded DSP resources, cameras, sensors, and host computers. The two FireWire controllers can be utilized indepdently and concurrently, using optionally provided software for general urpose I/O, video Framecapture, and video output.

The on-board 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface similarly facilitates Ethernet based networking, using the Windmill Innovations RFC and eXpressDSP compliant bf3Net TCP/IP protocol stack and web server software.

Imaging and Framecapture Capabilities Imaging and framecapture configurations are easily realized, with optional software support for IIDC IEEE 1394a FireWire digital cameras.

Development Tools & Software

Development tools & software provide support for code generation, source level debugging, pre-emptive multi-tasking, as well as downloading and managing FLASH ROM resident application software.
