The
ORS-114 is a high performance 2-channel 14-bit analog I/O board
with a user-configurable Virtex-II FPGA. It can be
used as a stand-alone resource with a user-configurable FPGA
for data processing, or as a ready-to-use or user-configurable
analog I/O resource within a micro-line embeded DSP system.
An
on-board 1MGate Virtex-II FPGA adds flexibility to the ORS-114,
allowing configurable interfacing options to micro-line based
DSP and
FPGA resources,
as well as an optionally user-programmable platform for implementing front
end
data
processing
algorithms. FPGA programming requires the use of an optional VHDL FPGA Programming Package.

Due to the limited I/O bandwidth of DSP processors, customers are also advised that for high bandwidth applications where data is to be transferred to a DSP, FPGA programming may be necessary as a means of reducing the data bandwidth. Typically, this would involve implementing bandwidth reduction algorithms, such as down-converters or decimators, prior to transferring data to the connected DSP.
