micro-line UC1394a Carrier Board
| The
micro-line UC1394a carrier board provides a powerful and flexible
board-level environment within which ultra-compact multi-chip modules
can be evaluated and utilized. It allows an ultra-compact multi-chip
module to be used as a stand-alone system, as a daughter card component
within a micro-line embedded DSP system, as well as a target-programmable
resource for JTAG-based DSP and FPGA software development tools. |
|
The carrier board
provides external connectors for accessing the many digital, analog, communications,
and other I/O interfaces provided by ultra-compact multi-chip modules.
The carrier board also provides its own user-programmable FPGA for adding
user specified logic, as well as a means to combine many of
the I/O services in preferred application specific configurations.
System Configurations
Designed as a micro-line
compatible board, the UC1394a carrier allows ultra-compact multi-chip
modules to operate in a variety of system configurations:
Stand-Alone
Carrier Board
Powering the carrier board from a micro-line
PowerSupply board allows the ultra-compact module to be used as
a stand-alone resource. Various user accessible I/O lines are directly
connected to various micro-line connector pins.
micro-line
Plug & Play Peripheral
The carrier board FPGA and ultra-compact module can be configured so
that the ultra-compact multi-chip module appears as a plug and play
peripheral when added to an existing micro-line
DSP system. This allows, for example, direct C6000 McBSP to IEEE
1394, USB or fast parallel bus DMA transfer from the main processor
to the UC1394a-x streaming interface.
micro-line
TMS320C55xx Bus Master
The carrier
board FPGA and ultra-compact module can be configured to extend the
ultra-compact TMS320C55xx DSPs address and databus signals across the
micro-line bus interface. This would allowing various additional peripheral
micro-line boards, like A to D or D to A converters, to be directly
managed by the ultra-compact´s own DSP.
The micro-line pins
at the ultra-compact UC1394a-x Carrier board typically operate at
3.3V signal levels and are not 5V tolerant.
