IEEE 1394a FireWire

FireWire

Traquair provides state-of-the-art IEEE 1394a solutions for the OEM embedded systems market, addressing a wide range of individual needs from surface-mount FireWire interface devices to fully-featured embedded board designs for computationally intensive DSP and Imaging applications.

Ultra-Compact Multi-chip Modules

ultra-compact multi-chip modules combine a TMS320C5500 series DSP, a small Spartan-II or Spartan-3 FPGA, together with a wide variety of serial and configurable digital I/O resources. They provide the developer with the means to FireWire enable their own hardware and are available in a range of plug & play and software programmable IEEE 1394 FireWire configurations. If a system requires substantial real-time processing, the micro-line embedded DSP/FPGA boards are recommended.

Supported configurations include FireWire Bridging, Video Framecapture, DCAM Camera Emulation, and General Purpose Communication. Bridging Development Kits do not require any DSP or FPGA programming and provide a particularly straight forward means of FireWire integration with minimal effort. All other configruations involve DSP programming with an option for FPGA programming. Learn more...

micro-line DSP / FPGA Boards

The same FireWire interface technology is available with some micro-line DSP/FPGA boards, but combined more powerful TMS320C6000 series DSP processors and larger Virtex-II or Spartan-3 FPGAs. This coupled with significant on-board memory allows micro-line DSP / FPGA boards to be used as stand-alone Firewire-enabled embedded processing systems or as plug-in mezzanine components within larger systems.
